WHY DO I NEED A HYGROMETER
Humidity is the amount of water vapor present in the air. Obtaining accurate readings of humidity may be helpful for protecting fine furniture, musical instruments, heirloom plants and the health of your family. The extremes of humidity affect the way you feel and damage valuable goods. Too much moisture in the air can promote the growth of allergy-provoking mold. Too little can be harmful to skin and breathing passages and may well harm wood and electronics.
When considering your comfort level, you must also consider that how warm or cold it feels does not depend on temperature alone. When the air is warm, temperature and humidity combine to produce the heat index, a measure of how warm it feels outside. In warm weather, the air holds more moisture, which makes the air feel hotter than it actually is. Conversely, introducing a little humidity to the indoors during winter may improve your comfort level.
